Cipher attends spain’s first reunion to analyze the challenges of regulating the digital society

Madrid, March 20, 2025.- Cipher, the cybersecurity division of the Prosegur Group, has participated in  Spain’s first Digital Law Meeting, organized by the Madrid Bar Association. The initiative analyzed the challenges and opportunities of regulating the digital society and how digital transformation is impacting the legal sector.

The meeting in the Spanish capital opened with an analysis of the impact of AI on society due to the rapid development this technology has undergone in recent years. This was followed by a round table discussion on the practicalities of applying the European Union’s 2024 AI Act, the world’s first set of rules governing the use of AI, directly applicable in all EU member states without the need for transposition. Delegates then focused on digital transformation and the current challenges faced by data protection officers.

The afternoon session looked at issues such as the regulating digital platforms, the impact of legaltech and legal design on the profession, as well as a practical analysis of the new challenges in cybersecurity under the DORA and NIS2 regulations.

Cipher has helped lead this sector. As explained by the company's CEO, David Fernández, the implementation of the 2024 EU directive poses some challenges for companies, as "they must have full visibility over the security perimeter, avoid technological and organizational fragmentation, professionalize the function by incorporating cybersecurity talent and implement continuous improvement mechanisms to adapt to the speed of change." Although there is still a long way to go, Fernández Granado stressed that "Spain is progressing adequately with the leadership of large companies, and we have a great opportunity to position ourselves as a benchmark in cybersecurity."

Cipher, the Prosegur group's cybersecurity division, offers a specialized cybersecurity service that uses both AI and machine learning to offer its customers digital defense strategies. This combination is capable of analyzing a large volume of data and offering solutions instantly. Cipher recently launched xMDR, a cloud-based solution that runs on a proprietary platform and is operated remotely, capable of anticipating and neutralizing threats before they cause significant damage. As the market debates the expected trends for the industry, security and transparency will continue to be at the center of the debate, which depends on the integration of effective technologies to evolve into more robust solutions against the growing threats of fraud and data theft.
