Prosegur joins the UN's Global Compact Target Gender Equility program
By signing up to renewed UN initiative, Prosegur further strengthens its commitment to closing the gender gap in business.
Madrid, June 22nd, 2023. Prosegur has signed up to the UN’s Global Compact ‘Target Gender Equality’ program, throwing its weight behind the global fight to reduce the gender gap and promote equality in business. Forty two Spanish businesses: 27 large companies and 15 SMEs, have joined this fourth edition of the initiative.
Prosegur's decision reflects its ongoing commitment to gender equality and the global challenge of promoting women to leadership roles in companies. Target Gender Equality is an initiative driven by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to achieve gender parity around the world based on the Women's Empowerment Principles, which are part of the UN’s fifth Sustainable Development Goal.
Prosegur's commitment to inclusion and equality
A long-standing practitioner of inclusion and equality policies, Prosegur actively promotes gender parity and diversity. The decision to sign up to the UN’s Target Gender Equality programme builds on other initiatives it has launched, such as the Empowered Women program, designed to enhance women’s leadership and increase the promotion of women within the organization. In addition, as part of European Diversity Month, Prosegur has signed up to the EU’s ten-point Diversity Charter to promote inclusion in the workplace.
Target Gender Equality is relaunched to help companies close the gender gap
The ‘Target Gender Equality’ program provides a comprehensive framework for closing the gender gap and achieving equal pay. Over the course of nine months, Prosegur and 41 other companies will take part in a learning process that includes development and analysis workshops to review current issues and create internal plans to promote gender equality.
At the same time, in collaboration with UN experts, international companies and Spain’s Women’s Institute and the CEOE employers’ confederation, the UN Global Compact will provide further guidance to signatories. This joint effort will enable companies to embark on a path towards gender equality and set new standards for others to follow in this area.
