Prosegur deepens its commitment to respecting and protecting human rights
The company has completed the human rights due diligence assessment, highlighting the effectiveness and maturity of its controls and mechanisms in this area, strengthening its process of continuous improvement.
Madrid, August 9, 2024. Confirming its unwavering commitment to society and fundamental rights, Prosegur, a global leader in private security solutions, has analyzed the management of its human rights due diligence. The objective of this review, which the company has addressed on a voluntary basis every three years since 2018, is to identify the risks related to human rights, assess the effectiveness and maturity of the controls and mechanisms it applies globally and locally in this area, as well as reviewing the status of the recommendations from previous years.
On this occasion, PwC has provided services to Prosegur to prepare the advisory report on the analysis of the maturity of human rights due diligence regarding practices and standards. The report focused on five countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain and Peru) and five business lines, and was based on 64 interviews with 91 key professionals, while more than 100 supporting documents were analyzed.
The assessment was carried out by evaluating 35 human rights applicable to Prosegur’s operations. These include those of minorities, whose relevance is highlighted today, August 9, International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, who the UN says represent about 6% of the world's population and are among the most disadvantaged and vulnerable on the planet.
Other rights analyzed include the right to life, freedom and security, equality before the law, health, education, work, freedom of opinion and information, among others.
Continuous improvement in the management and protection of human rights
The results reflected in the due diligence evaluation report show an advance in Prosegur's maturity with respect to the protection and respect for human rights, as well as having helped to identify new opportunities to continue with the process of continuous improvement.
The report highlights Prosegur’s full integration of countries and businesses with corporate guidelines on human rights, as well has a high degree of effectiveness in the control mechanisms at local and corporate level, which provide coverage for the risks inherent to its business activity. In addition, the report reflects Prosegur’s proactiveness in defining the time horizons associated with the areas where improvements could be made.
