Madrid, 23, October , 2023. Prosegur, a leader in the private security sector, has received final approval from the European Data Protection Committee (ECDC) of its binding corporate rules (BCR) on data protection. After a rigorous development and approval process to comply with the highest international privacy standards, Prosegur joins the exclusive group of entities with a legal instrument as robust as the BCR to carry out international transfers of personal data, in accordance with the requirements of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation.

Daniel Bastida Martín, responsible for Data Protection at Prosegur Group, said: "The approval of the BCRs by the ECDC represents a crucial milestone for the Prosegur Group in the field of privacy. This achievement reflects our strong commitment to privacy and the ethical treatment of personal data globally. The approval of the BCRs contributes to the strengthening of legal certainty in the cross-border personal data flows of our employees, customers and suppliers."

BCRs are a set of policies adopted by a data controller or processor in the territory of a member state. They facilitate transfers or series of transfers of personal data to controllers or processors in one or more third countries. This applies within a corporate group or set of companies carrying out a joint economic activity.

The main benefits of the Prosegur Group's BCR approval include:

- Legal Certainty: Prosegur's BCRs provide data protection policies that are binding for all group entities included within the scope of the BCRs that perform international data transfers  to one or more third countries, ensuring a high level of legal certainty.

- Global Governance Policy: The BCRs establish a common privacy framework, providing clear guidelines for the performance of international data transfers, standardizing and centralizing processes to improve decision making.

- Improved Defense of Rights and Freedoms: Prosegur's BCRs reinforce the protection of the rights and freedoms of customers, suppliers and employees by guaranteeing the protection of their personal data.

- Transparency in Privacy: These standards promote greater transparency in privacy matters, allowing for more effective and ethical management of personal data.

Mar España Martí, Director of the Spanish Data Protection Agency, commented, "Binding corporate rules are an essential tool for business groups and companies that share a joint economic activity. These rules guarantee the adequate protection of personal data in international data transfers, as long as they comply with the applicable essential principles and rights".
